Violetta Cupial teaches academic writing/reading at YUELI (York University English Language Institute). As a researcher, she is interested in the intersections between multilingualism, migration, and identity development. Her experiences of migration at an early age as well as multiple language learning experiences have had an impact on her research. Through her Master’s thesis investigation on language teachers, she found that multiple migration and language learning experiences lead teachers to construct their identity according to what she concluded is a ‘Translingual framework’. Currently, she is involved in the ‘linguascaping’ the city of Toronto project, which focuses on the subjective construction of landscapes.
