Mark Lemon

Mark Lemon is a senior semiotician at Sign Salad in London, and has conducted semiotic analyses across a variety of categories and markets, including investigations of the cultural meaning of refreshment in Colombia, body wash in Brazil, and naturalness in the US. The seeds of Mark’s semiotic adventure were planted as a teen, when, while employed as a lifeguard, the customers generously made him aware of their varied interpretations of pool rules signage. Diving in from here, Mark completed a Master’s degree in Semiotics at the University of Tartu in Estonia. His thesis analysed the role of typography in the communication of meaning.
